Travel & Housing
You will fly into St. George airport (GND). We will work and stay in Gouyave, about an hour north of St. George. We aim to have all buses air-conditioned. There will be a CHWC representative to pick up all campers from the airport and ride the bus with them to the dorms.
There is no air-conditioning in the school so please plan accordingly. The staff will be as proactive as possible to help try to keep campers cool and comfortable. The school does sit on a hill so a breeze is always present. You will also need to bring an air-mattress/cot/etc. to sleep on, as beds/bedding are not provided.
We will work alongside local nuns and priests, work with a home for the disabled, an orphanage, local school, Catholic Church, home for the elderly and local residents of the community. Amongst the beauty on the island, there is much need.
There is an included free day will be on Sunday. We will have orientation, celebrate mass and then BBQ and spend some time on one of the many beautiful beaches. Local youth group students will also meet us there with games and music.
There is also an optional free day available to snorkel the beautiful waters and underwater sculpture park, a must see! The cost is $150 in addition to the registration fee. The price will include your transportation, accommodations and food.
