Requirements to be hired as CHWC Staff

  • Complete application and mail back to the CHWC office along with a copy of your drivers license.

  • Please provide CHWC with three references. (one must be from their parish priest or youth minister) Give page 6 of the application to each of the references. They must be completed and sent directly to the Workcamp office by your reference. All references must be received by January 15 in order for us to process your application.

  • Make a video tape introducing yourself and telling us why you want to be a staff member. Please mail this video with your application.

  • Give written permission to CHWC to do a national background check, this paperwork will be mailed after we receive your application. In addition all staff members must have completed the requirements of your local parish and be in compliance with their diocesan policy for interacting with children and teenagers, in accordance with the U.S. Catholic Bishops Charter for the protection of children.  If you have not taken the required classes, the Protecting Gods Children class will be offered at the staff training sessions.

  • Provide your own transportation to and from a specified city (these cities are you starting and ending cities of your four week tour, we provide transportation for you when you are under contract). There are other options than flying: Be creative and plan ahead. Amtrak travels virtually everywhere. Greyhound is not as costly as airfare. Online tickets are always cheaper as well.

  • Staff members for teams 1-A, 2-A, 3-A & 4-A are asked to arrive in Orlando 3-4 days before the first day of camp for an orientation meeting and to pack up u-haul. Teams 1-B, 2-B, 3-B, & 4-B will take over for the other teams in a specified city 3-4 days before their first day of camp.
