To our Valued Participants:
As the COVID-19 situation becomes an increasingly widespread issue, many organizations across the United States are experiencing its challenging implications; Catholic HEART Workcamp is no exception. We are consistently monitoring the CDC’s ongoing recommendations and considering information from local authorities in each of the communities we serve as well. We are doing our part to help minimize the spread of the virus while continuing to communicate its impact on CHWC to our participants.
At this time, no final decisions have been made about our summer 2020 camps. We continue to plan for every possible scenario in order to act on behalf of the many participants, residents, agencies, and staff involved with our organization. Thus far, we have determined that this summer will probably look different. We are not yet sure what adjustments will be necessary, but we are grateful for your patience as we continue to pray about this situation and discern the decisions we must make.
From a financial perspective, we are also met with the impending challenge of maintaining a functioning budget. To combat these difficulties, we are allowing groups to use 2020 payments as credit for our 2021 camps. Our goal is to retain an anticipatory budget so we can support our organization’s year-round function and, ultimately, continue Catholic HEART Workcamp’s mission to serve in 2021 and beyond. In addition, we are working closely with our financial advisor to determine our eligibility for a small business disaster relief loan in order to keep our doors open.
In an effort to both support all of you and give us the time to further evaluate this summer’s schedule we are extending the Payment and Drop deadline for all groups to May 1st.
We hope this extension allows groups to have a better grasp on their potential summer schedules while also giving our organization the time to apply for government relief.
This is a new situation for us; we are learning how to handle things day by day. Your understanding has allowed us to navigate this uncharted territory with our mission at heart. At the end of the day, we strive to make decisions that will allow us to serve communities in need for years to come. We are doing everything possible to simultaneously ensure the safety of our participants while moving forward with our plans for camp. More than ever, there is a strong need for help in communities around the country, providing an even greater opportunity to connect with others, serve the less fortunate and show the world hope through the love of Christ.
As always, Catholic HEART Workcamp appreciates your prayers and support. We will continue to update contact leaders as new information becomes available.
Stay well and safe,
Catholic HEART Workcamp
